VX Aerospace Corporation and Commerce Overseas Corporation to Join Forces
By Bill Greuling, Business Development Manager, NCMBC

The North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC), North Carolina Aerospace Alliance (NC-AA) and the Golden LEAF Foundation (GLF) would like to congratulate VX Aerospace Corporation of Morganton, N.C., and Commerce Overseas Corporation of Kinston, N.C., for joining forces to manufacture and supply advanced composite parts for foreign and domestic aircraft.

VX Aerospace Corporation and Commerce Overseas Corporation met at a NC-AA meeting held at the Global TransPark in Kinston, NC. NC-AA is a Golden LEAF-funded association of North Carolina aerospace and machining companies, universities and non-profit agencies focused on developing business opportunities to produce spare parts for the Department of Defense (DoD) aging aircraft fleet. The Alliance has helped connect companies to resources – capital, metal fabrication companies, and defense contacts – and build a sector that reaches from Murphy to Elizabeth City.

The Golden LEAF Foundation has provided over $114 million in grants to qualified organizations to support projects in the aerospace industry. These Golden LEAF grants have also played a significant role in enabling statewide job creation in the aviation sector and more broadly in defense contracting (www.goldenleaf.org/initiatives).

North Carolina manufacturers and machine shops associated with the NC-AA can compete for billions of dollars in repair parts opportunities from the Defense Logistics Agency’s (DLA) electronic bid board (DIBBS) through registration at www.sourcenc.com, and millions of dollars in reverse engineering projects associated with the Defense Supply Center – Richmond’s (DSCR) Bailment and Value Engineering Programs.

Commerce Overseas manufactures and supplies aerospace parts for U.S. military aircraft. Their client list includes the U.S. military, Coast Guard and foreign countries, (www.commerceoverseas.com). VX Aerospace Corporation is an advanced composites manufacturing company, providing a full range of composite design, fabrication and assembly capabilities for aviation and defense applications, (www.vxaerospace.com).
